India

2022 Impact:

  • 1,382,000 people using an MSI-provided method of contraception
  • 224, 847 unsafe abortions averted

MSI operates two country programs in India: Foundation for Reproductive Health Services India and Population Health Services India. Together, these programs have provided more than a million women with contraception.

Through centers and outreach teams, our programs provide short-term and long-term contraception, abortion care and care after unsafe abortion. Our steadfast commitment to women’s choice is especially important in a country where marriage at an early age remains common and almost half of adolescent girls have at least one child.

Meenakshi, an MSI program coordinator in Rajasthan, is passionate about informing women about their rights. “After I learned about reproductive rights, I knew that I wanted to tell other women about their rights. In Rajasthan, people don’t talk about women’s reproductive rights, sex and family planning; it’s taboo. But I want to be transparent and open about these issues so that we can educate more and more women.”
