MSI Nepal organizes cervical cancer screening for journalists
The team partnered with the Nepal Association of Financial Journalists to boost awareness for their cervical cancer services.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in Nepal and is preventable if detected early. However, due to low awareness, limited access to screening, and stigma around reproductive health, thousands of women are still at risk. To address this, MSI Nepal collaborated with Sunaulo Parivar Nepal and the Nepal Association of Financial Journalists to organise a cervical cancer screening campaign at an MSI centre in Putalisadak for the female journalists of the Association.
26 female journalists underwent cervical cancer screenings from MSI. If needed, clients were provided with counselling services about their options for the next steps of treatment.
Many of the journalists shared that they had never experienced such screening before and appreciated the initiative, recognizing that taking preventive measures is important for staying healthy in the long term.
The journalists also committed to producing health news reports on the cervical cancer screening campaign, helping to raise awareness among a broader audience. This collaboration highlights the importance of engaging media professionals as key partners in informing women, families, and communities across the country about reproductive healthcare. By combining service delivery with advocacy, the campaign not only provided direct health benefits to participants but also ensured that the message of cervical cancer prevention and early detection would be widely shared throughout the communities.
