Democratic Republic of the Congo

2022 Impact:

  • 279,000 people using an MSI-provided method of contraception
  • 40,000 unsafe abortions averted

MSI’s newest program, MSI Democratic Republic of the Congo, launched in 2017 with generous support from US donors.

The need for sexual and reproductive healthcare is urgent:  Currently, just 10% of Congolese women have access to contraception, and pregnancy-related deaths are tragically high. Through a network of outreach teams and mobile midwives known as MSI Ladies, MSI DRC provides short-term and long-term contraception, care after unsafe abortion, and other essential reproductive healthcare services.
