Washington, D.C. MSI United States, the U.S.-based affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices, is delighted to announce the election of Lisa Valone as Chair of its Board of Directors. Valone succeeds outgoing Chair Elena Otero, who has completed her term of service with our gratitude and appreciation.

Valone, who has served on the MSI United States Board since 2024, brings decades of philanthropic, advocacy, and nonprofit experience focused on advancing global women’s equity and empowerment to her new role. Her extensive leadership experience spans both the nonprofit and private sectors, combining strategic insight with a deep commitment to improving women’s health and opportunity worldwide.
“Lisa’s leadership, expertise, and passion for global gender equity make her the ideal person to guide MSI United States at this critical time,” said Amanda Seller, MSI’s President. “Her vision and dedication to expanding access to reproductive choice will help us continue driving progress for women and girls around the world.”
In addition to her role with MSI United States, Valone was a founding member of Mercy Corps’ Women’s Climate Alliance. She is also a member of the Network of Engaged International Donors (NEID Global) and of Women Moving Millions (WMM), where she founded and co-chairs WMM’s International Group. Recently, she served on the evaluation panel for Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global funding initiative from Melinda French Gates’ Pivotal Ventures supporting organizations that improve women’s mental and physical health.
Valone who holds a B.A. from Pomona College and an MBA from Harvard Business School has also had leadership roles with the UN Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund, Health Equity International, and Sudbury Valley Trustees, among others.
Valone said: “I’m honored to step into this role and continue supporting MSI’s mission to ensure that every woman and girl can make choices about her body and her future. Access to reproductive healthcare is foundational to equity and opportunity, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to advance MSI’s critical work around the world.”
