MSI United States Announces Appointment of Four Members to Board of Directors

MSI United States has invited four new members to join their board.   

Washington, DC |  July 7, 2022 

MSI United States announced today the appointment of four new members to its board. 

Joining the board are Danielle Berfond, Elena Otero, Gokul Sundar, and Neha Wattas. 

“We warmly welcome Danielle, Elena, Gokul and Neha to the MSI US Board. Each new member brings expertise that will help MSI United States strengthen its position as a global leader in women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights at this critical moment when these rights are under unprecedented attack,” said Amanda Seller, MSI US President and VP of Global Philanthropy and Partnerships.   

Danielle Berfond is a principal in The Bridgespan Group’s New York Office where she has worked with nonprofits and philanthropists across several domains, with a focus on development work with clients around the world. Her work in India included strategy projects in the areas of women and girls, skills development, and rural livelihoods, as well as research on the state of NGO leadership development.  Danielle is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School and a BA in Political Science from the College of Arts and Sciences.  

Elena Otero is an experienced global consumer business leader with a demonstrated track record of success in the consumer product goods industry. Elena brings a wealth of marketing expertise to the MSI US board with almost two decades of experience leading marketing efforts with consumer giants, Procter & Gamble and The Clorox Company in Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the United States. Elena has an Executive MBA from The Wharton School, and MBA in marketing from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administracion in Caracas, Venezuela, a Master of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Boston University.     

Gokul Sundar brings to the MSI US board a deep and vast network within fintech and tech ecosystems, built while serving in VC and Corporate Development roles. He is a Venture Capital Fellow with Alumni Ventures Group, NY, one of the world’s most active VC funds. Previously, he served as Research Manager, Strategy & Operations for Blockchain30 in New York and was an Analyst and Economic Consultant with Monument Economics Group in Washington, DC. Gokul has an MS in Data, Economics and Development Policy from MIT, a Master’s Certificate, ChinaMed Business Program from Peking University in Beijing and a BS in Economics from Penn State University. 

Neha Wattas is Head of Strategic Insights within the Innovation & Corporate Development group at JP Morgan Payments, NY a $10b revenue business where she leads FinTech partnerships, investments and M&A deals globally. She works on emerging trends shaping the next decade of payments and commerce. Neha worked at JPMorgan for approximately 10 years in various high impact strategy and product leadership roles across London and New York. She earned her MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Masters in Information Security & Policy Management from Carnegie Mellon University and has also completed an introductory program in clinical psychology at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York.
